Access Design & Print came from pretty humble beginnings. After leaving an entry level job as a phone book graphic designer, Adam Baldwin had the crazy idea to set out on his own. He started Access Design & Print in 2001 with just one computer and a handful of clients from the phone book.
His wife Cathy was a bartender by day and community college professor by night, but, as Adam carved out a little niche for himself, he asked her to leave her jobs and join forces with him. It took five years of asking, but she finally agreed to give it a go. They worked crazy hours round-the-clock, bringing both babies to work every day as their little business grew.
And grew it did. Dave Rollins joined the Access Design & Print team in 2012 as the art director. With his graphic design expertise, Dave was the perfect complement to the budding business.
Fast forward to today and so much has changed. In the years between, Access Design & Print has: bought the North Beach Sun, a successful and long-standing quarterly newsmagazine; survived hurricane Sandy that flooded their office and forced them to temporarily move the whole operation to Cathy and Adam's house for a month; gained an amazing and talented crew of people who not only excel at their jobs but make coming in to work every day fun; and added a whole host of services to make Access Design & Print a complete design-print-promo-sign company.
Access Design & Print has grown as a team and a business, and their client base has grown along with them. Over the years, the've seen mom-and-pop businesses blossom, bartenders become restaurant owners, and real estate agents start their own companies. Access Design & Print has sponsored big community events like the Duck Jazz Festival, the Mustang Music Festival, and the Outer Banks Marathon. And they've situated the business smack-dab in the middle of Kill Devil Hills with Baldwin Video and K. Wilkins Photography in their office building so that they can offer clients an easy and reliable one-stop solution to just about everything advertising-related.
It's been a wild ride, and it's just beginning.
Adam BaldwinAdam Baldwin is a master multi-tasker. From designing a new logo to applying vehicle graphics to printing menus, Adam never has the same day twice. He’s always doing something different—and usually doing ten different things at once. He’s the one you’ll see burning the midnight oil at Access Design & Print long after everyone else has gone home and the first one in the office in the morning. He loves the Patriots, his kids, college basketball and strong coffee—not necessarily in that order.

Cathy BaldwinCathy Baldwin wears a lot of hats... she’s the voice you’ll usually hear answering the phone and the one who balances the books. She’s the editor of the North Beach Sun and the promo products specialist for Access Design. You’ll usually find her chatting with clients at the front desk, meeting with writers about story ideas for the North Beach Sun or cheering on her son on the soccer field. Cathy counts her two children, her master’s degree in English and her ability to make a living and create a happy life in an amazing little beach town to be among her greatest accomplishments. Nutella is her kryptonite. |

Dave RollinsDave Rollins has been with Access Design & Print since 2012. He is responsible for making our clients look good. Dave has a passion for smart aesthetics and cohesive design. Most days you will find him at his standing desk, listening to obscure Pacific northwest radio stations while staring intensely at Illustrator and InDesign. If he had to take another job someplace else, it would be as an astronaut. |

Helen FurrHelen Furr, sales manager of both Access Design & Print and the North Beach Sun, has a consistent track record of pushing sales higher and growing the Access Design clientele base. She's always smiling, brimming with energy, and a positive force in the office. When she’s not meeting with clients or attending chamber mixers, you’ll find Helen running up Jockey’s Ridge with the Outer Banks Bootcamp crew, volunteering at her twin daughters’ elementary school or jamming out to Phish or the Dead. |
